miVac Concentrator Range


miVac is a range of centrifugal vacuum concentrators and freeze driers capable of removing water and organic solvents from a variety of sample formats including tubes, microplates, and vials.  Built-in special optimise the concentration of water and water mixtures, improving performance and reducing time.  The miVac SpeedTrap™ may now be used for freeze drying low volumes of water, and can be operated as a stand alone small volume freeze drier, or configured as a combined concentration / freeze drying workstation with a miVac vacuum concentrator.

Choose from the miVac DNA Sample Concentrator for simple organic solvents, e.g. methanol, ethanol, and solvents up to 100°C BP, e.g. water, the miVac Duo Concentrator for low sample numbers or the miVac Quattro Sample Concentrator for larger numbers, the Duo and the Quattro are both available with the optional miVac SpeedTrap, Pressure Controller and pump(s). Both the SpeedTrap and the pumps (Duo Pump, Quattro Pump or Scroll) are also available separately.

The new miVac SpeedTrap™ has a continuous chill mode, which can be used to freeze dry up to 250ml of water, or other suitable solvent, such as, 1,4-dioxane. Samples to be dried may be placed in a suitable rotor in the miVac concentrator and dried at full vacuum using the miVac Super Vacuum pump. The low vacuum level boils the samples at below their freezing point, therefore the samples freeze and the ice sublimes away, leaving the sample as a dry powder.  To freeze dry water and acetonitrile mixtures (from HPLC fractions, for example) then the LyoSpeed™ method should be used with the EZ-2 Elite or HT series evaporators.

The miVac DNA is capable of removing low volumes of water and organic solvents from a variety of sample formats including tubes, microplates, vials and round bottom flasks. Making it an ideal concentrator for the busy molecular biology laboratory.

The miVac Duo is suitable for use with a wide range of solvents, from volatile organic solvents through to water and some of the higher boiling point solvents.  The Duo is a centrifugal vacuum concentrator compatable for use with variety of sample formats including tubes, microplates, vials and round bottom flasks. Making it an ideal "work-horse" concentrator for the busy lab.  Combined with a SpeedTrap and JetRotors miVac concentrators are the fastest in class.

The miVac Quattro is suitable for use with a wide range of solvents, from volatile organic solvents through to water and some of the higher boiling point solvents.  The Quattro is a centrifugal vacuum concentrator compatable for use with variety of sample formats including tubes, microplates, vials and round bottom flasks. Making it an ideal "work-horse" concentrator for the busy lab.  The Quattro has more than double the capacity of the Duo concentrator.  Combined with a SpeedTrap and JetRotors miVac concentrators are the fastest in class.

miVac SpeedTrap™ is a unique frost free cold trap.

The SpeedTrap™ is suitable for use with a wide range of solvents, from volatile organic solvents through to water and some of the higher boiling point solvents.  Whilst it is designed to compliment the miVac series of vacuum concentrators it can also be used with other vacuum concentrators, provided that the solvents concentrated are compatible.  The more recent versions of the SpeedTrap can be used as  a freeze drier, either as a stand alone low volume freeze drier or, as a combination system when used with one of the miVac concentrators.

miVac Duo and Quattro pumps are oil free diaphragm pumps requiring almost no maintenance designed to power the miVac series of vacuum concentrators..  They are compact, requiring little bench space and are quiet running. 
 
The miVac Duo Pump is suitable for use with a volatile organic solvents through to water, where as the miVac Quattro Pump is also suitable for use with some higher boiling point solvents.  Both pumps have high flow rates to ensure the fastest possible concentration rate.  miVac Duo and Quattro pumps can also be used with most of your existing equipment.

Oil free operation and low maintenance!

Developed by Edwards, with assistance from Genevac, and based on the "scroll" principle. The scroll pump takes it’s name from the design of the pump head, where a series of crescent shaped scrolls cut into an oscillating rotor are used to repeatedly compress and decompress the gas or vapour to be pumped.
miVac are the only vacuum concentrators of their class to be supplied with rotors made from solid aluminium. The JetRotors range provides very high performance concentration compared to rotors made from plastic, or of an open construction. Speed increases compared with polypropylene types range between 40% and 200%, depending on sample format, providing a significant advantage when working with stubborn solvents, such as water.

miVac vacuum concentrators are excellent laboratory work horses!  To enhance their performance further a pressure display and controller has been developed.
 
The miVac pressure controller can be added to any modular miVac system and allows the user full control over the running pressure in the system.
 
A vacuum ramping mode is included so that concentration can be commenced gently and is used to help prevent bumping or spitting.  For users who are uncertain of the appropriate pressures to choose an automatic mode can be used which controls the vacuum profile.
